Death Valley

Death Valley – an intermountain depression in the area of ​​the Mojave Desert and the Great Basin in the western United States. The valley is the lowest point in North America. Death Valley is home to the Indian tribe of the Timbish, who moved here at least 1000 years ago. The valley received its modern name in 1849 during the California Gold Rush. In the 1850s, gold and silver were mined in the valley. In 1933, by the decision of President Hoover, Death Valley passed under the protection of the federal government.
