Art and Memorial Museum of Oleksa Novakivsky

Description

The artistic-memorial museum of Oleksa Novakivsky is a museum institution of artistic and memorial purposes, a branch of the Andrei Sheptytsky National Museum dedicated to the person and work of the Ukrainian artist Oleksa Novakivsky (1872-1935). The institution was created in 1972, when UNESCO decided that the cultural and artistic community of Lviv was celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the artist. In March 1972, the initiative of the sons of the artist and the community and the city leadership immortalized the memory of the famous Ukrainian artist, created a new museum institution of the artist’s work, and installed on a memorial plaque its facade.
