Cathedral of God the Father of Mercy

The Cathedral of God the Father of Mercy is the most well-known Catholic church in the city of Zaporizhzhia. The wonderful temple became a pride and a center of pilgrimage for Christian Catholics throughout the city.nThe only Catholic church in Zaporizhzhia was closed in the 1930s. In the 50’s the building of the temple was destroyed, and replaced by a factory. The construction of a new church has begun in 1999. On August 7, 2004, the long-awaited consecration of the temple of God the Father of Mercy took place. On the altar wall of the temple, with its size and impressive power, stands the icon of God the Father. On the icon, God the Father is depicted without a beard, which expresses the truth of the belief that God never gets old.
