Description

One of the oldest Orthodox churches in the Black Sea coast, the main Sochi Cathedral. It was erected in the second half of the 19th century after the end of the Caucasian War. The cathedral was named in honor of Tsarevich Mikhail – the son of Nicholas I and the governor of the emperor in the Caucasus. The construction was delayed due to the outbreak of the Russo-Turkish war. As a result, the temple was consecrated only in 1891.
