Description

The Boston Cathedral, the center of the Catholic Boston archdiocese, the largest church in New England.nThe building of the cathedral was designed by architect Patrick Keely in a pseudo-gothic style. Construction began on April 29, 1866, in 1875, John Williams was ordained as a new archbishop, becoming the first archbishop of Boston.nOn October 1, 1979, Pope John Paul II held a 38-minute mass in the cathedral, in which about 2,000 priests participated.nThe Cathedral has its own high school in Boston and the Holy Cross College of Worcester.nInitially, the plans were to install on the western tower of the spire, which has not been built to date. The height of the Cathedral is 36 m.
