Description

The tower of Filaret towers over the famous Sforza Castle in Milan. The fortress was the residence of the dukes of the Sforza dynasty. The construction was designed by the famous Italian architect Antonio Filarete in the XV century. A sample of the fortress was taken as an example during the construction of the Moscow Kremlin.nThe building is a magnificent building of several levels, which has a four-sided structure.nThe height of the tower is about 70 meters. Its facade is decorated with bas-relief of the Italian monarch Umberto I. At the top of the first tier you can see the heraldic frescoes and the statue of St. Ambrose, who is the patron saint of the city. In 1521 stocks of gunpowder from a lightning strike exploded in the tower, after which the building was dismantled. Reconstruction took place only in 1900.
