In 1793 in the Market four fountains were erected – one at each corner of the square. In the construction of “Neptune” used the former reservoir.nAt the end of the Second World War, the oppressed Soviet power and the statue of Neptune. The Lviv City Council saw in the trench of Neptune “a symbol of Ukrainian bourgeois nationalism” and decided to remove it, but the active position of the residents of Lviv helped to bring the trident to the place.
