Only then its name was Pokrovskaya Square. Here every year on October 1, on Pokrov Day, a fair was held. Gradually, at the Pokrovskaya Fair only cattle and fodder were sold at first, but later these goods began to be sold here not only on fair days. Probably since then the popular name of the square, Sennaya and Vygon, became more popular among Mariupol residents. Since that time residents between the fair days were driven here to pasture their horses, cows and goats. From the beginning of the fifties, the square began to be gradually built up with five-story residential buildings. And by the middle of 1967, the public of the city could already familiarize themselves with the project of building the square and turning it into the main square of the city – the Administrative. The renewed Greek Square opened to celebrate the 240th anniversary of the city – September 29, 2018. The gift to the residents of the city was made by the family of the Greek patron of the arts Panteleimon Bumburas. Now it is one of the favorite places of rest for Mariupol residents and city guests.
