Historical Black Police Precinct Courthouse and Museum

Description

Miami hired its first black police officers back in 1944, and it was only through six years of struggling without a locale to call their own that they were granted a separate courthouse, jail and precinct house in Overtown. This museum is a resting place for historical memorabilia of the first black police officers in the City of Miami. It’s a glimpse into Miami’s days gone by, and the tours, some led by former members of the force, are eye-opening.n
