Connoisseurs call them Kokorevskaya, in honor of a certain merchant Kokorev, who came to Kyiv on commercial matters and enjoyed the view from the churchyard of St. Andrew’s Church. He was delighted with the panorama of the Dnieper and donated 1000 rubles to Kiev for the construction of a gazebo located just below St. Andrew’s Church. That was in 1863, and the Vladimirskaya Gorka park was only being built. The fathers of the city took the money, put it in the bank and forgot it. They remembered them only after 33 years. During this time, a considerable percentage came over this amount. And they decided instead of one gazebo to build two. One – there, where Kokorev bequeathed, near St. Andrew’s Church, and the second – not far from the monument to Vladimir.
