Now it is one of the museum institutions of Mariupol – Kuindzhi Art Museum, which stores in its collections copies and originals of the works of the great master of light Arkhip Kuindzhi, his colleaques and students. Also it regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary Mariupol and Ukrainian artists. However, before becoming home for works of art, this building had a completely different purpose. It was built at the very beginning of the twentieth century in the Art Nouveau style. The building was built by the family of Metropolitan Ignatius (Gozadinov) for his daughter (and his great-granddaughter) in honor of her wedding with local philanthropist, renowned scholar and public figure Vasily Giatsintov, that put forward and brought to life the idea of creating the first real school in Mariupol, which trained specialists in technical specialties. After all, when Mariupol in the late 19th century gradually began to turn from a county town into a large industrial center, there was a need for more specialists in this sphere. Therefore, the building is also known as the Hyacinth Mansion, where he lived with his wife in the first half of the twentieth century.
