Description

The Miniatur Wunderland in Speicherstadt Hamburg is the must-see for all railway enthusiasts, world-deckers, families and every other visitor to Hamburg! More than 1,000 trains with over 10000 wagons and 130000 trees, 263000 figures, 9250 cars, 15400 metres of track, 4,340 houses and bridges were set up by more than 300 employees in more than 795000 hours of painstaking work. In this model building landscape of superlatives you will see realistic, completely computer-controlled train operations. The Harz Mountains with an endlessly long high-speed train line and more than 130 trains are just landscapes from Austria, Scandinavia or replicas of famous districts of Hamburg and sights from the Hamburg Michel to Hagenbeck’s zoo to the world port. The USA in Hamburg attracts visitors with its desert and gambling metropolis Las Vegas. In 2005 the sixth section was completed with Scandinavia. The real water basin is particularly impressive here, in which 16 ships are currently sailing from miniature port to miniature port. The construction section Switzerland is the most impressive section to date – it was opened in November 2007. And this is just the beginning! Additional sections are already planned until 2028, in the next two years France and Monaco will be added to the miniature world first and then many more spectacular sections will follow. 7,000 years of history have been recreated in just as many hours of laborious manual work with many details and numerous hand-made figures and buildings.
