Monplaisir is a palace in Peterhof, a monument of architecture of the early XVIII century.nThe palace was built by personal order of Peter I in 1714-1723 by architects Andreas Schlüter, Johann Friedrich Braunstein, Jean-Baptiste Leblon, Nicolo Michetti. Peter personally chose the location of the new palace, and also determined its layout and gave instructions regarding individual design elements. Many significant events and personalities of Russian history are associated with Monplaisir. Naturally, Monplaisir constantly visited Peter I, there were also congresses of the court, ceremonial receptions, meetings of the emperor with foreign ambassadors. The last time Peter I was here in October 1724.
