Description

А monument to the first printer on the territory of Ukraine – Ivan Fedorov in Lviv. Established on November 26, 1977 in honor of the so-called “400th anniversary book printing on Ukrainian lands”. The area around the monument is the largest literary market in Lviv.nIn 1977, Lviv sculptors received an order from Moscow for a monument with a deadline to erect it in 2 months. In such a short time it was unrealistic, therefore, it is believed that the sculptors took the model of a typical Soviet soldier, added Fedorov’s head and handed over a book. The proof is considered an apron, in which it is easy to recognize the overcoat, and kirsy boots on the feet of the printer.
