According to the legends, Horseshoe had unheard of physical strength and easily unscrewed horseshoes with his hands. In June 1578, Ivan Podkova was executed by order of the Polish Sejm in Lviv on Rynok Square.nThe monument in honor of Ivan the Horseshoe was built free in 1981 by Lviv sculptor Peter Kulik. The monument was one of the objects that were listed in the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR “On the perpetuation of memorable places associated with the history of the Zaporozhye Cossacks.”
