Founded in 1918 as part of the national policy of the USSR, aimed at developing a cultural autonomous republic. As of 2018, the collection of the Museum of the East has more than 160 thousand exhibits. The museum’s collection was formed from the eastern collections of the museum fund, antique shops, as well as nationalized noble estates.
