Also known as the Church of Christ in Boston – the Episcopal Church in the Boston district of North End. It was built in 1723 and is considered the oldest of the existing churches in Boston. Christ Church was built by the architect William Price.nOn the night of April 18, 1775 a light signal was sent from the church’s spire to the American revolutionaries, warning of the approach of British troops.nThe spire of the church was destroyed during the hurricane of 1804, after which a new spire of a similar shape was made according to the design of architect Charles Ballfinch. This spire was also destroyed by Hurricane Carol in 1954, and again restored to its original form. The height of the church with a spire is 175 feet (53 m), and with a weather vane – 191 foot (58 m). She was the tallest building in Boston until 1810.nOn January 20, 1961, the Old North Church was granted the status of a national historic monument of the United States, and on October 15, 1966 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places of the United States.
