Description

Powder Tower – a tower built in 1554-1556, a monument of military-defense architecture of the Renaissance. It was part of the Lviv city fortification system (Rzecz Pospolita, the territory of modern Ukraine) and served to defend the approaches to the city from the north. It was located on the defense wall behind the second line of urban fortifications. The tower was used to store gunpowder and ammunition, in peacetime was used as a grain warehouse.
