The Royal Northern College of Music is a British Conservatory located in Manchester. Founded in 1973 as a result of the merger of the Royal Manchester College of Music, established in 1893 by Charles Halle, and the Northern School of Music, which existed since 1920; 1893 is considered the year of foundation of the college.nAmong the notable pages in college history is the formation in the mid-1950s. a group of his students, which included, among others, Harrison Burtuistle, Peter Maxwell Davis and John Ogdon, the avant-garde-minded association “New Music of Manchester” and the creation in 1972 of four students of the Brodsky Quartet.
