The Church of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa

Description

The Pyatnitskaya church served as an outpost of defense beyond the line of fortifications of the city. In 1977-1978, its foundations and remnants of the walls, which date from the XIII-th – the first half of the XIV centuries, were discovered.nThe foundations were used in the construction of the building in the years 1643-1645. The architecture of the Pyatnitskaya church shows elements of the building traditions of Moldova. In 1908, the hipped roof of the tower was replaced with a dome with turrets modeled on the Kornyakt tower.n
