The Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is one of the first monasteries founded by Kievan Rus. One of the most important Orthodox shrines, the third Lot of the Virgin.nThe Pechersky Monastery was founded in 1051 under the rule of Yaroslav the Wise. The names of the chronicler Nestor and the artist Alypy are connected with the monastery. In 1688 the monastery received the status of the monastery and became “Stavropigion Tsarist and Patriarchal of Moscow”. With the relocation of the brethren to the large monastery, the caves were turned into a tomb for monks, whose bodies were laid on both sides of the cave corridor, in the recesses of the walls. The monastery also owned the village Foresters. Theodosius dug himself a cave there, in which he lived during Great Lent. In the XI and XII centuries. up to 20 bishops came out of the monastery, they all retained great reverence for their home monastery.
