The museum was created in 1973 as the Museum of the History of Religion and Atheism and previously occupied the premises of the Dominican Cathedral (which in 1997 was transferred to the UGCC community). In the funds there are over 50 thousand units of conservation. Among them are exhibits that have significant religious, artistic and historical value. The Lviv Museum of the History of Religion is the owner of a significant collection of icons of the XVI — XIX centuries, the “Jewish treasure” of the XVII — XIX centuries, a large collection of Thor and Bibles, a collection of valuable old printed books of the XVI-XVIII centuries, including the Ivan Ostrog Bible, “Requiem” Peter Graves, a reliquary of St. Arontius XI century.n
