Description

The Mariupol Chamber Philharmonic has united three local groups under one roof: the Renaissance Chamber Orchestra, the municipal wind band and the orchestra of folk instruments.nThe philharmonic was opened in 2018. Before that, this building was known as the departmental palace of culture of “Azovstal” industrial complex. By the way, the future palace of culture was opened back in 1933. Then the club of metallurgists of the Azovstal plant was organized on the basis of another historical building in Mariupol, the former hotel “Continental”. On May 1, 1958, the Markokhim Palace of Culture was opened.nThe company had two Palaces of culture, when Markokhim was attached to the “Azovstal”. Then the question arose: which of them should work. The choice fell on the Markokhim culture center. There is a monument to A.S. Pushkin in front of the Philharmonic. Our city is the only one in the Donetsk region that great poet have visited. They say he spent only 3 hours in Mariupol, but during this time Pushkin took a different turn after the harassment and persecution in St. Petersburg.
