Description

The monument to Ludwik Zamenhof is the first and only monument in Ukraine to Ludwik Zamenhof, the creator of the language Esperanto. In the 1950s, the sculptor received an order from Poland to create a bust of Zamenhof, but for unexplained reasons, customers did not come for the monument. Then the plaster bust was installed on the roof of the well in the courtyard, where he lived Blazhkov. At the same time, the questions of the local authorities about who the monument was erected by the sculptor answered that to his father. Such precaution was due to the fact that in the Stalin years the Esperanto movement was outlawed.n
