The Statue of Liberty is a collosal sculture, situated in USA on Liberty Island. It was built as a present to USA from France for the Centennial Exposition in 1876 and for a hundred year anniversary of American indepedance. The statue looks like a woman, symbolizing liberty, wearing a cloth, that is similar to a . A broken chain lies at her feet as she walks forward. She has a crown on her head , which consists of a base and seven rays of light; in her right hand, that she is holding over her head, she has a torch, and in her left hand, which is bent in an elbow, she carries a tabula ansata inscribed in Roman numerals with July 4, 1776, the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The height from the ground to the top of the torch is 93 metres. Inside there is a museum, dedicated to the history of the statue, and on the top there is an observation deck. Usually, the statue is open to visitors. The visitors arrive to the Liberty Island on ferries from wharfs in Battery Park City and Liberty State Park.
