Description

Villa Reale – is a palace and park ensemble of the classicism era in Milan, one of the most significant monuments of this style in Lombardy. Particularly famous for its landscape park with bridges and pavilions. Since 1921, the palace was given to the Museum of Modern Art.nAfter being elected president (and then king of Italy), Napoleon and his wife Josephine chose the palace as their residence in Milan. In this regard, Villa Belgiojoso was renamed Villa Bonaparte or Reale (which means “royal”). Following Napoleon, Milan’s villa and palace in Monza were occupied by his stepson Eugene de Beauharnais (as viceroy of Italy).
