The complex of buildings of the Admiralspalast is included in the list of architectural monuments of Berlin. In 1910, construction began on the Ice Palace, which was opened the following year under the name Admiralspalast and became one of the main places of city entertainment. After the reconstruction, the ice arena turned into a variety show. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, financial problems arose near the Admiralspalast, and unsuccessful searches for investors began. Despite the fact that the theater ensemble was persistently fighting to preserve the theater, in 1997 the Admiralspalast was closed. Only in 2005, after many years of idle Admiralspalast, the investor Falk Walter and his partners received the necessary rights to begin a major overhaul of the complex in order to gradually restore its former brilliance.
