Chocolate House

The Chocolate House is the unofficial name of the Mogilevtsev mansion in Kyiv, where later prominent scientists, social, political and public figures lived. There are allegorical rods of the ancient god of commerce Mercury. Symbols were related to the occupation of the owner, a merchant who was awarded a high rank of the fifth grade, a state adviser, “outside the rules, for outstanding activities in the interests of public education.” Dark brick-red color, in which the walls are plastered, became the basis for its name – “chocolate house”.
