One of the few ancient monuments of Milan.nThe colonnade was built in the IV century AD. er as part of the ensemble of the Basilica of San Lorenzo – from the columns borrowed from the building II n. Oe., presumably, a pagan temple or public bath.nUntil 1935, the space between the church and the columns was completely occupied by old residential buildings. After the demolition of these houses, the existing square was formed, in which in 1937 a bronze statue of Emperor Constantine was installed, a copy of an antique marble statue stored in Rome.
