Freshkills Park

Frereshkills Park is a park in the west of the Staten Island boro in New York. Freshkills is proposed to be divided into 5 zones, each of which would have its own specifics. Work on the creation of the park began in 2003 and is designed for 30 years. By the time of opening, the park area will be 2,200 acres (about 890 hectares). Freshkills will be the second largest urban park, 3 times the size of the Central Park. As of 2016, the park already has basketball and handball courts, football fields are broken, and several kilometers of bicycle lanes have been laid.
