Historical Museum

Historical Museum is located in the historic city center. The museum exposition reflects the history and culture of Frankfurt from ancient times to the present day, is unique in terms of number and content of exhibits. The History Museum is located in a large palace complex known as Saalhof. The palace was built in the XII century. The museum exposition covers the periods from the construction of the Saalhofofapelle chapel in 1120 to the present day. One of the most popular exhibits of the historical museum is a set of three models of the city, created between 1926 and 1955 by the brothers Herman and Robert Truner. The largest model shows the central part of medieval Frankfurt. Two other models show the city center after its destruction as a result of the bombing of 1944 and after its restoration.
