Description

Lieo i Morera House is a six-storey residential building in the city of Barcelona, a masterpiece of Catalan modernism, one of the most prominent and significant works of Luis Domenech-i-Montaner. Along with the equally famous Casa Batlló and the house of Amalieu, it constitutes the pearl of Barcelona – the so-called “Quarter of Razdor”, known for the variety of forms and details of modernity. Sculptor Eusebi Arnau was attracted to work on the sculptural decoration of the facade and interiors of the house of Leo Morera. Along the edges of the wide balconies of the third floor, Arnau planted four girls, personifying technical progress (as it was imagined at the beginning of the 20th century). Each of them holds in his hands one of the latest achievements of technology – a camera, telephone, phonograph and a light bulb.
