House Russova

The building was built as a tenement house in 1897–1900 by order of an entrepreneur, a Odessa collector and patron Russov. The architect of the project — Chernigov; the facade design — the artist of architecture Schmidt. In 2004, the reconstruction of the building began. In the fall of 2009, a series of fires occurred in the building. As a result, the internal walls of the building were largely burned out, the supporting structures, roofing and the turrets crowning the building collapsed.nIt is believed that the cause of the incident was arson, the fire itself was called “an act of vandalism.” The event drew attention to the fate of the building and made the city authorities react to what happened.n
