Description

Hydyrlyk Tower is a Roman structure dating from the 2nd century BC. e. The tower, erected in the southern part of Antalya Bay, probably played the role of a lighthouse or performed defensive functions. The massive drum is located on a square base, probably built in the Hellenistic period. The total height of the structure is 13.5 meters.nEntrance was through a door in the eastern facade. From a small room through a narrow staircase you can get to the upper floor. According to descriptions that have reached us, the tower used to have a gabled roof, which may have been demolished during the Byzantine Empire. Due to the fact that there is a huge square stone block inside the tower, some historians believe that the tower could be a tomb.
