Monument to the Magdeburg Rights

Description

The Monument to the Magdeburg Rights is a monument commemorating the return to Kyiv of its Magdeburg rights, which granted its right to self government. The monument was erected in 1802. The brick pavilion over a spring was consecrated on August 15, 1802. Since 1804 the Metropolitan Serapion started crucessions to the monument for the blessing of the water. It is the place where Saint Vladimir of Kyiv baptized his sons into the Christian faith.
