New York Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in the Borough of Bronx, New York City, with an area of 101 hectares, numbering about a million protected plants. On April 28, 1891, by the decision of the New York State Legislature, such a botanical garden was created in the northern part of the Bronx Park. In 1902, tropical and economically valuable plants were brought to the botanical garden. They were placed in the greenhouse. In 1916, the rose garden was opened. In 1981, the Institute of Applied Botany and the Institute of Ecosystem Research were established at the botanical garden.
