Description

The opening of the Alexander Pushkin Museum in Kyiv took place in May 1990. This event was dedicated to the celebration on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the poet’s birth. The exposition was based on a private collection of a famous philologist and writer – Yakov Berdichevsky from Kyiv, who throughout his life collected materials relating to the life and work of Alexander Pushkin. In 1987, Yakov Berdichevsky, intending to go to Germany, donated his collection as a gift to the city, setting a requisition – to create the Alexander Pushkin Museum in Kyiv. The building of the museum became famous for the fact that Mikhail Bulgakov’s childhood passed in it.
