It was built in the XIX century by the project of Francesc Daniel Molin and Casamacho. Earlier this place was the old monastery of the Capuchin Santa Madrona, which burned down in 1835. The area was originally planned to be called the “Square of Heroes of Spain”, but for political reasons it acquired the current name. There are numerous music and dance festivals. There are many cafes, restaurants and bars.nIn the Gothic Quarter there is also a square called the King’s Square, which has existed since the 14th century. She is sometimes confused with the Royal Square.
