The weight of the sculpture is 8 tons. The author is an American artist of Japanese origin Taro Chizo. The work embodies a symbol of caution about the dangers of genetic engineering, and also reflects the historical past of Liverpool: earlier ships that stopped at city docks often carried sheep’s wool and bananas. According to the author’s idea, Superlambanana should move around the city; it is currently located near the library of the University. John Moors. In 2008, when Liverpool was chosen as the Cultural Capital of Europe, 125 design minicopies of sculpture appeared in the city.
