Description

The Green Theater is an open-air amphitheater in Odessa. It was built in 1936 in the Alexander Park. The architects are Baumstein and Nazarets. In the summer of 2015, the amphitheater was almost completely destroyed by the efforts of the volunteers Impact Hub Odessa and reconstructed into a functioning summer outdoor area with a stage, a lecture hall, eco-space, an open coworking and recreation area for the citizens. Arkady Raikin, Tarapunka and Shtepsel, Edita Pyekha, Anna German, Mikhail Vodoyanoy, Oleg Anofriev, Muslim Magomayev, Sofia Rotaru, and Alla Pugacheva performed at the Green Theater. Symphony orchestras, as well as leading figures of Soviet jazz Leonid Utesov, Oleg Lunstrem, Anatoly Kroll and Eddie Rosenner performed on the stage of the Green Theater. In 1962, Benny Goodman gave two concerts on the stage of the Green Theater.
