Description

Cloisters – a museum in New York, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum. Located on the northern hill of Manhattan, in the Washington Heights. The museum exhibits collected artifacts of medieval Western European art brought from Europe (architecture, sculpture, painting). The museum collection includes more than 5,000 works of Romanesque and Gothic art: paintings, sculptures, tapestries, stained glass windows, and ivory items. Among the most significant exhibits are the Altar of Merode and the cycle of tapestries The Hunt for the Unicorn.
