The Old Water Tower

The Water Tower is a beautiful decoration of the city and a modern symbol of Mariupol. It is well-known for its architectural style and bizarre combination of shapes and lines. Tower is one of five official city monuments of architecture, which is located in the heart of Mariupol. It was built in 1909. Therefore, even now, when it is surrounded by modern high-rise buildings, the Old Water Tower stands out all new buildings.The tower is built by architect Viktor Alexandrovich Nielsen. He was the one, who designed the city water supply system and Water Tower was a part of it. During its long existence, the tower tried on different roles: from a part of the water supply system to a fire tower, an uncreated museum, and an office space of a commercial enterprise. But now it really has become a symbol of modern Mariupol: open, creative and progressive.
