Fans of the do Sevillano have the opportunity to stay for two nights in an Andalusian Airbnb hacienda to celebrate with them the 25 years of the arrival of the “Macarena” to number one in the list of pop hits of the United States. We talked to the Ro of those years, the success and their favorite places in Spain.

This summer it is time to celebrate it because it is a year in which everything must be celebrated and because a quarter of a century later, the theme continues to occupy the number 8 on the Billboard list of the successes of all time.
Few titles are on that list, however, that continue to ring today in the parties of half the world and world and a half. And few people like the two members of the do, Antonio Romero Monge and Rafael Ruiz Perdigones, to act as hosts and open the doors of your house and “transmit from Andalusia and to the whole of Spain what the “Macarena” has brought to the whole world”.
It is precisely what they will do between August 3 and 5 with Airbnb, with which they will mark the anniversary of the musical bombshell that changed their lives. “After such a complicated year, it’s more important than ever make people smile and get fun and optimism back.”
The proposal, open to everyone, consists of staying a weekend of guitar with Los del Ro in a fantastic Andalusian hacienda where there is no lack of shady patios and the garden with pool. In Villa Macarena, guests will be able to meet the artists in person and give your body joy… They already know.
Composers haven’t had much time to travel for pleasure. “We have always been around the world with the “Macarena”, but in those tours they have had many hosts to be inspired by. Any favorites? “For his sympathy, among many other things, we are left with Will Smith. It’s lovely.”
How many trips around the world can you give with the royalties of the “Macarena”?A few! (Haha). We feel very fortunate to be able to live from the music that is what we like the most in the world.
And besides money, what gave them the hit?There are many things that “Macarena” has given us, among them the possibility of getting to know the world and also to meet hundreds of extraordinary personalities and artists. In addition, of course, it has made us known throughout the world and that today continues to give us many opportunities. And, of course, it has allowed us to show the world the wonderful culture and music that Spain has.
Where did I get the inspiration to compose the song?It was after a performance in Venezuela. There we met a dancer named Magdalena and started singing “dale a tu cuerpo alegra Magdalena”. That same night, like so many others, at the hotel, Antonio composed the chorus and weeks later he finished outlining the lyrics. Even so, he finally decided to change the name protagonist of the song by Macarena, which is what his daughter’s name is.
When did they first realize that they had triumphed? We realized how popular “Macarena” had been as we moved around the world. It is normal that artists go to the passes to promote a song, when we arrived at the sites, the song was already playing and had become famous.
And the most exclusive place where they have performed?If there is any place where we have been particularly excited to act, it is in the Vatican auditorium. We were invited by the Pope and we also met the Mother Teresa of Calcutta which, by the way, was a big fan of ours.
If you could travel back in time, what time will you celebrate again?We believe that we agree on this question… We both loved to relive the day in which our children were born, they were very special moments. At the same time, we will also return to the moments when we composed some of our songs, which we also consider our children (haha).
Where and what do you need to make the weekend perfect?We love all Spain, it has no waste. Any corner will be perfect to disconnect, but we love the beaches of Cdiz. It looks great. To make a perfect weekend, all we need is our families.In other circumstances, what place would you like to know by renting an Airbnb?With Airbnb we will go anywhere! But now what we want is for travelers to come to Villa Macarena and spend an incredible day with them.
Reservations at Villa Macarena be available from June 28, for the stay of two nights from 3 to 5 August (the same week in which 25 years ago the song reached the world summit).
With capacity for four guests and with a price of 25 euros a night, the getaway includes, among other things, “tips from the Ro on how to perfect the intonacin and the iconic choreography of the “Macarena” and access to a private karaoke room to interpret the song with classical Spanish guitars.
