Description

The Berlin Radio Tower, a radio tower in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district of Berlin in Messe Berlin, is a recognizable symbol of the German capital. Berliners jokingly called the radio tower “Dildo”.nThe tower was built from steel in 1924-1926 by the project of architect Heinrich Straumer and opened on September 3, 1926 on the occasion of the third large German radio exhibition. Berlin was the cradle of radio in Germany: from here in October 1923, the first German radio station carried out the first broadcast. In 1929, the world’s first television broadcast was broadcast from it. It is under the protection of the state as a historical monument.
