Berlin State Opera

The Berlin State Opera (Staatsoper Berlin), also referred to as the German State Opera (Deutsche Staatsoper), or the State Opera on Unter den Linden (German Staatsoper Unter den Linden) is one of the oldest and largest musical theaters in Germany . Founded in 1742 as the Royal Court Opera (German Königliche Hofoper) under Frederick II.nAfter the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961, the Opera, although it reduced its repertoire, still continued to stage both classical and romantic operas and ballets, as well as contemporary music. In 1969, the theater troupe toured the USSR for the first time.nThe orchestra of the theater is the Berlin State Chapel, which also performs with symphony concerts.
