It was originally established in 1901 in front of the Reichstag on Königsplatz Square, the modern Republic Square. In 1938, the monument to Bismarck was moved to the Big Star Square. In the public opinion of that time, the Reich Chancellor Bismarck presented himself as a superman, and one central sculpture could not embody his heroized image in bronze. Four more sculptures on the plinth around the pedestal revealed Otto von Bismarck’s greatness. On the back of the fountains, three more bas-reliefs symbolized the completion of the Bismarck case.
