It has the shape of an irregular pentagon. Formed by the intersection of Preobrazhenskaya, Sadovaya, Koblevskaya, Lev Tolstoy streets.nnSince 2005, on the square there is an exhibition-sale of works by Odessa artists and tourist souvenirs. In the center of the square there is the Transfiguration Cathedral (it was founded in 1794), after which the square got its name. After the reconstruction of 1903, the cathedral was one of the largest in the Russian Empire (accommodating up to 9,000 people). The cathedral was demolished in 1936, restored in 1999.
