Description

Cerralbo Museum in Madrid – can be safely called one of the most significant cultural places of the city. The building in which the museum is located was the private property of its founder Enrique de Aguilera i Gamboa, the 17th Marquis de Serralbo. From a young age, the Marquis showed remarkable interest in various works of art. Traveling a lot, he bought up paintings, some of which were truly priceless, as well as souvenirs, figurines, coins, glass and ceramics, and much more. All this formed the basis of the collection exhibited today at the Serralbo Museum and numbering more than 50 thousand exhibits, which the Marquis transferred to the state along with his house.
