Description

The Chapel of Reconciliation, built on the foundations of the blown-up Church of Reconciliation, is part of the Berlin Wall Memorial. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the community and civil society activists abandoned the costly plan to rebuild the blown-up church. Instead, the idea arose of erecting a reconciliation chapel in the same place, which would organically combine the orientation towards the interests of both believers and numerous tourists – visitors to the Berlin Wall memorial complex, which is important for preserving historical memory. Starting from August 13, 2005, in the Reconciliation Chapel, a weekly prayer for the victims of the Berlin Wall is read weekly from Tuesday to Friday at 12 noon. In the center of each prayer is the fate of one of the dead, the list of which is constantly updated thanks to the research project “The Victims of the Berlin Wall”.
