Description

Zionskirche is a Protestant church, known largely due to the fact that Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a theologian and participant in an anti-Nazi conspiracy, was a short time Lutheran pastor. After 1933, Dietrich Bonhoeffer joined the Confessing Church and the Christian Resistance movement of the Nazi regime in Germany. For his involvement in the anti-Hitler conspiracy, Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed on April 9, 1945 in the Bavarian concentration camp Flossenbürg.nAccording to the plan of Augustus Orth, the chosen location of Zionskirche at the intersection of three large roads was so important that he, taking into account the peculiarities of the area, oriented the altar part of the temple to the north and not to the east, as is customary.nIn the summer months, Zionskirche is open to visitors. On Sunday afternoons, you can climb the tower, where there is an observation deck at a height of 22 meters with a good overview of Berlin in three directions.
